Poona College of Pharmacy is situated in Pune in Maharashtra state of India. Established in 1981, it is accredited from AICTE, NBA, NAAC, Pharmacy Council of India, ISO, UGC and it is affiliated to Bharati Vidyapeeth University. BVPCP, Pune offers 11 courses across 2 streams namely Pharmacy, Medical and across 3 degrees like B.Pharm, Pharm.D, M.Pharm. BVPCP campus is spread over 70 Acres. Poona College of Pharmacy

There was no Pharmacy College in this region till 1981 and Dr. Patangrao Kadam, Founder of Bharati Vidyapeeth, realizing the need for training the students in Pharmaceutical Sciences established Poona College of Pharmacy in 1981. Thus this college is the pioneering pharmacy institute in this region. With a person like Dr.Shivajirao Kadam who is a very dynamic man with a great academic commitment and orientation at the helm of affairs, as its first Principal for 25 years, this College has now come to be known as one of the best Pharmacy Colleges in the country for its academic excellence.

Poona College of Pharmacy was earlier permanently affiliated to University of Pune. It is now a constituent unit of Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University). It is a grant-in-aid institute, conducting Graduate, Post-graduate and Doctoral programmes in Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Earlier there was no separate Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in University of Pune. Dr. Shivajirao Kadam, Vice-Chancellor of Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) and our former Principal, took a great deal of initiative and interest in creating a separate Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in University of Pune in response to the growing importance of Pharmacy education.

It is because of his efforts, a separate Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences was established in the University of Pune. Now a separate faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences has been created in Bharati Vidyapeeth University also.

Campus Facility

Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) has two campuses in Pune, one on Pune-Satara Road 5 kms. South of Pune and another at Erandwane, in the heart of the city. In addition, two more campuses have been developed at Sangli and Navi Mumbai.

The campus at Pune on Pune-Satara Road is situated on a sprawling 70 acres of land. Architecturally well designed buildings on this campus house our Medical, Dental, Ayurved, Engineering and Homoeopathy Colleges besides other colleges.

The other campus at Erandawane, has Arts, Science, Commerce College, Pharmacy College and a few other colleges. Hostel facilities with modern amenities are provided separately for the girls and boys in our both the campuses. With the recreational, communicational and other facilities that are available on the campuses our students can enjoy full-fledged community life on these campuses.

Bharati Vidyapeeth University has developed excellent campus at Sangli, Maharashtra, India. The campus is on 42 acres of land on Sangli-Miraj Road. It has excellent infrastructural facilities for Medical college, 500 bedded Hospital, hostel and staff quarters etc. This educational complex has facilities also for colleges of other disciplines.

Bharati Vidyapeeth educational complex at Navi Mumbai is of approximately 45 acres and it also has excellent infrastructural facilities. Along with Dental College it has facility for Engineering, Pharmacy, Management and other colleges.

The placement track record of our college is exceptionally good. A large number of multinational companies, as well as, Indian pharmaceutical companies regularly visit our campus to recruit the students as their employees. Renowned and prestigious companies such as Elli Lilly, Ranbaxy, Wockhardt, Novartis, Aventis, Cipla, Lupin, Natco etc. have visited our college for recruitment of our students.

The College has constituted a placement cell. This cell is headed by a Director. In addition to the Director there is a Placement Officer in the Cell. The Cell has been provided with a strong administrative backup. The Placement Cell has a strong database of potential employers (i.e. Pharmaceutical, Cosmetic and Chemical Industries).

The major activity of this Cell is to guide and help students for placement and training during the vacations. In addition to this, Cell carries out the following activities:

·        To train the students to write project proposals, prepare them for the interviews and presentations

·        To work as an agency mediating between the students and industries

·        To monitor the progress of students working with industries

·        To select the students for awards to the best project reports

·        To identify the job vacancies in various industries for placement and to provide information about them to the students

·        To arrange seminars and group discussions for the benefit of students. They are given training for writing their curricular vitae, for giving interviews, group discussions and presentation on their project works

·        Quite a reputed Pharmaceutical, Chemical and Cosmetic Industries depute their executives to visit the College for the campus interview placement. The track record of such placement is excellent. More than 90% students get employed within the first three months and rest of them are employed within six months after their results are declared
